Priorities: Taking good care of me!

Priorities.

What are the few actions that have the most positive impact on my day? Prioritise them!

I read this in a newsletter from James Clear and contemplated about it in regards to my actions and their impact on my day. Plus what happens if I do neglect them.

For the past weeks, I wake up at around 5:30am. First I was annoyed by it, tried to force myself back to sleep, or just stay in bed. Yet, it did not help anything. Therefore I use the extra time in the morning to give more time for my prioritised actions that I used to squeeze in to 30 - 45 minutes. So I decided to follow the concept of miracle mornings. The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod is a 6-step morning routine using what are called Life S.A.V.E.R.S.: silence, affirmations, visualisation, exercise, reading, and scribing. I adapted the idea to my personal needs and meed it.

The first hour or two in the morning is dedicated to:

  • Writing it off (i.e. clearing my mind with my morning pages. Incl. affirmations, visualisations

)

  • Movement in the morning (i.e. yoga, mobility)

  • One song of practising hand stand or another challenging pose (and really just one song, not more, not less. Continuity makes the mastery)

  • One song of just sitting and listening to my body

Using this extra time and literally taking the time for these actions that have a very positive impact on my day surprisingly make up for the lack of sleep. Once I went through them, I feel refreshed, relaxed, and ready for the day ahead. Because I was taking good care of myself, I am prepared to take good care of others.

In the past I would have sacrificed these actions for another extra 30 minutes of sleep. Would the extra sleep help me? No, actually I would start the day rather a bit stressed and without knowing what is going on in my physical, emotional and energetic body. I would not be prepared for the day and sometimes even little things would throw me off. Ending in not taking good care of myself and exhausting me on trying to take good care of others.

Therefore go and investigate: What are the few actions that have the most positive impact on your day? Prioritise them! And take good care of yourself.
